ULTRALIGHTS Architectural Lighting was started in 1988 by James Restin as an outgrowth of his custom furniture business. The metal patination techniques which Jim had developed for furniture inlays lent themselves to a unique collection of exterior sconces in copper, brass, aluminum, and stainless steel. The Lus Azul series soon so popular that the custom furniture business was discontinued in favor of lighting fabrication design.
The Classic Series sconces, released in 1991, emphasized the company's aim to provide high quality, yet understated designs for exterior use. Bathroom fixtures were added next providing a much-needed alternative in vanity lighting, and marking ULTRALIGHTS' first move indoors.
Other interior and exterior designs have followed and ULTRALIGHTS has developed a loyal clientele, providing designs ranging from ADA-compliant corridor lighting to ballroom chandeliers. Realizing that performance and efficiency are often as important as aesthetics, ULTRALIGHTS has developed many products using the latest high output compact fluorescent lamping and smart ballast technology.
From its beginning, ULTRALIGHTS' philosophy has remained constant: to create unique, high quality, hand crafted lighting products and designs which stand the test of time and provide maximum enhancement to their surroundings.
